She wasn't edgy because she cheated on him, then the writer's would tell you. Luke feels uncomfortable with the whole Chris situation to begin with, so let's not jump to conclusions that any infidelity went on. Only a true Gilmore Girl's fan would see that Lorelei wouldn't do something like that, especially with Luke.
